Jalopnik people tend to be great. I don’t get very many complaints on here — if any at all. That wasn’t always true —when I had the Ferrari there was definitely some pushback —but everyone quickly got my whole ‘buying a car to write about’ thing with the Hummer and the Skyline, and the Jalopnik community has generally been accepting ever since. I’m lucky to be here!!

While I see where you’re coming from, I don’t want to remove the post. I personally believe that this is a good time to bring up this subject, as I’ve seen quite a few people, not just him, doing this. He’s just been the most prolific case so far however. It’s a lesson for everyone, not just him in specific.

The next book (which I will also not force you to read) will have some of the better commenter stuff in it. You should see some of the e-mails I get. But it’s hilarious! Initially I took it personally but then I realized that the larger number of people who like you, the larger number of people who hate you. It’s just how it goes, and I no longer mind.

But, my luxury car list goes like this: Imperial > Oldsmobile > Chrysler > Buick > Cadillac. The only exception to this is the 1974 Cadillac Fleetwood Talisman, and the 1975 Buick Electra Limited Park Avenue.

This is especially true for almost every post on Lanesplitter. People are either hating on bikes in general (“why is this motorcycle crap on FP jalopnik!!!!!”) or hating on Sean (won’t lie - he can proofread his articles a bit better but doesn’t deserve to be personally attacked) or hating on riders (“lol you guys are organ donors cuz you’re gonna die a lot lol”).

But it’s the Internet... and it’s hella easy to type this shit compared to speaking it to someone in real life. I also wonder how many people are really good trolls...

Well that’s just plain wrong. Oldsmobile was priced one step above Chevy, and Buick one above that. Chrysler was Oldsmobile priced, Cadillac had the most expensive car. Olds wasn’t even really a lux brand, it was a tech heavy brand.

Tell that to my old 98... I’d argue that, during the mid ‘60s, Oldsmobile was building a better car than Cadillac, and almost as expensive. Seriously, my 98, according to the factory price lists, was a $5000 car, back in ‘65.

That said, I’d still rather have a Chrysler than a Cadillac, with only a couple of exceptions. (This obviously changes after the 90s, but..)
